Hurricane Surf Fund (HSF)

Established in 2010 by the Hurricane Surf Company, the HSF is a proudly South African non profit organisation dedicated to protecting our coastal resources and developing surf sports in the country.

The HSF will actively raise funds and support selected initiatives and projects that fit into the mission.

Each and every initiative and project that is supported by the HSF will be followed carefully and the results of these will be displayed and updated on the HSF website.

HSF will function in the form of a registered section 21 company and the financials will be freely available and accessible through the website.

Hurricane Surf Company will allocate a percentage of its total sales to the HSF and encourage other companies in the surf industry to do the same.

Ocean Users will be able to interact on the site and suggest initiatives or volunteer services.

Supporters will be listed on the HSF Website and allow links to their individual sites.

Some of the projects and initiatives earmarked for the initial launch of the HSF are as follows:

1. Monitoring of environmental impact on large coastal developments i.e. Durban Harbour and Vetch’s pier construction
2. Water Quality on the SA coast and upgrade to Blue flag beach standards
3. Development of surf sports in underprivileged coastal communities through existing initiatives and the implementation of new projects with a strong emphasis on safety and environmental education.
